Omg, I have tears in my eyes now after I read this. How very sad. His family must be devastated. I will pray for Joe and his family, and keep you in my thoughts as it must be so hard for you too to see this happening.

Thank you so much, ladies. No change in his condition so at least things are not getting worse. They sent samples to the mayo clinic and hopefully they will have an answer soon.
In the meantime, the show Joe has been directing opened tonight and in the last few days I have watched kids, staff, and parents rally around and pitch in to make opening night truly spectacular. Joe will be so proud! The kids were so amazing tonight and played to a sold out crowd. The audience laughed so hard and iI just believe that Joe heard them somehow despite his being heavily sedated. The teens made him 4 giant cards during their rehersal today and his cast also signed them. I am taking them to the hospital tomorrow and his wife said she will take them in to him as he cannot have visitors beyond immediate family. Please keep up those good thoughts and prayers, cherries!

He has not felt "right" for about 3 months and has been tired, at times dizzy, has had a hard time thinking and processing, and has also had some problems with the vision in his right eye. He went to see one of our kids' parents who is an eye doctor and after the exam was referred to a neurologist. After the neuro exam, they decided they needed an MRI which showed a large "mass" in the front left portion of his brain. They scheduled a biopsy (drilling a hole into the skull and taking tissue from the area) to see exactly what it is. His wife called me about 11am today and said the biopsy went fine but that the hospital called her at 4 this morning and said she needed to come and sign some papers. His brain was swelling rapidly and they needed to remove part of his skull to try to relieve the pressure. Once they got in, it was apparent that the mass is a SEVERE brain infection. He is in a drug induced coma to hopefully allow the brain to swell without damage. They need to identify the infection though to treat it. If they can't identify it, they will fly him to Denver to infectious disease specialists. I haven't heard anything since. Please keep Joe and his family in your thoughts.

Prayers for him , his family and the medical staff caring for him . I sure hope that they find out how to treat him and he improves .
I hope that he's able to recover completely and quickly. It sounds like the kids have made a beautiful tribute to him and will appreciate him being back.
