Friday I was at the grocery store with the boys to pick up some snacks for the World Series game. The boys were squirrely and my husband called to tell me that I needed to use funds from our Bank of America account. In order to do this, I had to activate the ATM card. We had been avoiding activating our new cards because we thought we would have the $5 monthly fee. When we found out our account won't have that, he activated his card but mine still needed it. I went to the check out and the lines were long so I dialed the number to activate the card. I hear,
"This call may cost anywhere from $0.66 to $2.99 per minute."
I think - geez, B of A, really sticking it to us now - ok...whatever, I need to activate the card. Then I hear,
"If you are under 18 years of age you must hang up now!"
I think - geez, why can't someone under 18 years old have an debit card? That seems strange but - ok....whatever, I need to activate the card. My turn in line is really coming up. The kids are bouncing all over the place, I'm using my other hand to put the food on the conveyor belt. Then I hear,
"Welcome to (insert name of some kinky sex line) where all your dreams will come true..."
Oh shoot! I dialed a sex number. I hang up as fast as possible and check the number I dialed. I dialed 1-888-642-xxxx instead of 1-888-624-xxx. And then I had to explain to the cashier what the hold up was as I tried again to activate my ATM card. In addition - someone I work with was in line right behind me and I didn't see him until after I told the story of the sex line.

I am sorry, but this made me laugh! I know if it had been me, I would have been embarrassed, but from this vantage point, too funny!!!!! I think I would have to change banks if they started charging that amount to call them, lol!!!!

OH MY GOSH!!! That is so funny. I can only imagine what was going through your head when you found out that you dialed the wrong number. Hopefully you hung up before you were charged anything. I would have been so embarrassed too.

This is so funny when you hear that it happens to someone else as well. My manager and I (2 women) were trying to call a co-worker in another state and misdialed. Yep you got it......a sex line. We hung up quickly and then dialed the correct number. We told our co-worker what we did, and to this day "He" will not let the two of us forget it. Boy were we embarrassed admitting it to him.
