What kind of bird is this suppose to be? a Kingfisher? (I know it's a kind we don't get around here!) TIA

Ann, it would be my guess, too. But if you don't get someone to answer, when I get back to Angleton I'll call you when I get my hands on my bird books. Depending on DH we'll leave tomorrow afternoon or really early Monday morning.

Yep, looks like a kingfisher to me but then I don't know anything about birds, lol.

If I had to guess, I would guess King Fisher, but don't know for sure. I think he's pretty.

No, it's not a blue jay. We've got those around here. Beak is wrong as is the crested head. It came as a grayscale item with a bunch of other birds, but none of them were named by kind. The files were just numbered.

Thanks Scrappy69! I do believe that is the bird. I did mix up what colors go where, but hey, that's artistic lisence, right?

I know there are several different Kingfishers. Try google images and you'll get a host of pics. But scrappy69 was on the money. Thank you, cause it's been bugging me since my first post.


I still have to hit my bird books because I saw a bird I'd never seen before yesterday in our south pasture. It reminded me somewhat of a painted bunting but it can't be it was to large and no blue.
