Use them both, but mostly dinner. When younger it was supper and then dinner for Sundays, holidays or family gatherings.

It's dinner for us, although I have an aunt that still calls it supper. My mom did too but she's now "dinner. We always give my aunt a hard time about it. She also says I'm using the sweeper instead of the vacuum cleaner. I just think it's an old school thing.

We mix it up around here. I grew up saying supper. DH grew up saying dinner. But I always say lunch (instead of dinner), so they know whether I say supper or dinner which meal I'm referring to. Confused yet?

We always said dinner for our noon meal and supper for our evening meal. But lots of people say lunch for the noon meal and dinner for the evening meal.

Another regional questions though, do you say "wash" or "warsh"?

My grandparents are from Arkansas and it always comes out "warsh".

I live in southern MD and it's Warsh. I say wash, but I do find warsh extremely funny.
