Thanksgiving here in the U.S. is less than 2 weeks away. I have been watching Martha Stewart frankly and I am starting to panic. I do not have my turkey silhouette pre-printed individual placecard holders OR the turkey and pilgrim silhouette tablecloth borders made for the kids' table. I have not made my cranberry wreaths which will last as long as 1 1/2 weeks, and for some reason I can't find my indiviudal salt cellar to fill half with salt and half with WHITE pepper. I apparently skipped picking up my white pumpkins and mini-gourds for the tabletop and heaven help me, I don't have EITHER a crisply-ironed white cotton shirt or a baby pink mohair sweater to cook in. I haven't scheduled my wine consult with the local sommalier to pick out which wines will go best with each course of the meal. I haven't even picked up my big-as-your-head hyderangeas for the fresh apple and pear and hyderangea centerpiece. Somebody talk me down, please. Thanksgiving will surely be ruined!!

Yes, you're right. It is ruined. I don't know what you've been doing the past few weeks while I have been harvesting my white pepper and defeathering my organically grown turkey, but I'm pretty sure you're screwed now.

Oh, my you have soooo much to do! What on earth have you been doing? Hahahaha, why not just find a time machine and get the pilgrams and original indian too. Then it will be the perfect Thanksgiving! Really, she makes it all out to seem the average american needs to have all those fancy types of food and dishes to have a proper Thanksgiving! She just might faint to find out we use "Fancy" paper thansgiving tableware!

Ahhh, yes...Martha. What would we ever do without her??
We are going downstate for Thanksgiving with the daughters; hopefully they have it more together than I do!! LOL We'll be lucky if the turkey is cooked all the way through and the rest of the food isn't served cold!! Good thing we care more about seeing them than we do about the food!

I wonder, sometimes, if we ever give God a headache.
I'm glad I don't have family that expect me to be like Martha! I would disown them if I did

My my, whatever will you do? Time management is the key, LOL!
On the other hand you could be like me, in true panic. I'm suppose to cook with Mom's help at her house. She's doing the Apple Pie and I'm kicking her out of the kitchen. And yet with the new truck terminal the work never stops, not even for Thanksgiving or Christmas. So I don't even know if I'll call Mom next weekend and tell her to come to the ranch!

I still haven't bought my Thanksigiving groceries yet, so I'm definitely starting to panic! Dh's check should have been in the bank yesterday, but wasn't, so now we haven't to wait until Monday or Tuesday to get groceries. I sure hope there's going to be sale turkeys left!
I will save you!
Get some sliced turkey from the deli, a jar of gravy, some instant mashed potato and some celery sticks. THere's dinner!
Wine comes in boxes
Serve a Little Debbie for dessert.
There's dessert.
For ambiance, serve it all in front of the game on TV.
No one will notice the lack of decoration.

LOL. I say skip Thanksgiving. Surely there are angel silhouettes and poinsettia decorations to move on to. Maybe, just maybe, you have enough time left to save Christmas.

Well, I can help you in the food department. Have everyone bring something and assign what they bring so it is something yummy that you like.
Then buy some paper plates, cups and napkins and call it good. How about that?!?!?!?

I say you go to Target and order your thanksgiving meal. Then go to the Thanksgiving aisle (HAHA) and find a few of those paper turkeys for your centerpiece, the paper plates with the turkeys in the center (just what I want...a photo of the bird before it was killed and frozen and then cooked so I can eat it now), some of those paper cups....you could mix it up here and get the ones with pilgrims on them instead of turkeys and napkins in a matching pattern. Or if you look in the halloween clearance aisle, they might have some Bounty papertowels with pumpkins on them...that would be cheaper.
Seriously....who aside from Martha does those kind of things??????

I wish I had the sort of gathering that would be befitting of such decor. But honestly, I'm such a procrastinator, I'd be rushing so much at the last minute I wouldn't enjoy it anyway. And imagine how much it would cost! Think of all the patterned paper you could get instead! ![Wink :winkb:](./images/smilies/smile_wink_b_16.png)

What a great thread. You gave me a good laugh for the day. Now if we got paid what Martha does, then we would certainly get all of those things done and more. However, we are in the "real world". Thanksgiving is at my house this year, and I'm sure by next weekend I will be in my house cleaning, shopping, and cooking panic mode. Right now I'm still calm. Again, I love your funny write up.....![Very Happy :-D](./images/smilies/smile_lol_16.png)

I know all the responses are all in good humor but who needs all that stuff. Do not forget the true meaning of thanksgiving
