My hubby and I were just talking about me posting pics of the family in the gallery, and he asked if I was concerned about creeps out there...not referring to good cherries on this site, but someone who might be lurking, and lifting a pic and using it... Do you guys worry about that? Is this site safe from those things? I just found that on Facebook, someone can copy one of your pics without your permission. What do you think?

i believe that on facebook you used to be able to do that now, but they are trying to put a stop to that with a new facebook bill of rights. but, that was over the summer and i haven't been keeping up with that. i do know that u can copy pictures from facebook to snapfish only if you are tagged in them. as for here....i don't worry too much.

On facebook I thought only your "friends" could view your pictures. Here I'm sure anyone could copy and paste - what a world we live in to have to worry about that stuff!
I can understand the concern...but I don't think you should be all that worried.
Facebook is reasonably secure, as no-one can veiw you profile without an invitation.
I know how many requests - get from complete strangers - I just decline to let them onto my page.
No reason to be careless ....but my friends and family are welcome to download any pics I post.
My family are quite widely spread here in South Africa, but via the web we see each others kids grow, and can share in special events.
The rewards far outway the risk for me.

You have to change your settings to let only friends view your photos.

I agree with Mrs Jones, the rewards are greater than the risks.
I just don't post anything that I don't want the whole world to see.

I don't worry about it too much, but I do occasionally google my screen name (I use the same one on several sites) to see what pops up. The first time I did that I was surprised at some things, but realized I didn't have some information marked as private on those sites. So now I do periodic checks and make changes if needed.

U am sure if people really want your pic, they will get it. So, I only post things that I don't worry about.
I know that if one of my friends posts a comment on someone's photos...it will show up on my page even if I am not a friend of the original friend. And I have been able to save them to my hard drive even tho I was not friends with that person.
Now don't think I am a freak for doing that....they are photos from weddings I have been at

I have seen this happen too. Also, on the right side of facebook in the 'highlights' I see pictures all the time of people that I'm not friends with but my friends are. A great example is one day my sister's name kept popping up in the highlights like 'tagged in this photo is...' - so I click on the photo and it's one that someone has posted with her and her family in it. Actually there were several because this person really gets in to putting pics on facebook. There are just too many creeps in the world to make me comfortable with that.
Whoever said it in the prior post hit the nail on the head, it's all about settings. But like in the above situation if someone has their settings set real loose, then it's a free for all.
As far as on here, I took all my layouts off because I had a lot of kids that aren't mine and I didn't want to upset someone and have them 'yell' because I was posting a pic of their child w/out their permission. U know ?
It wasn't because I was worried about cherries at all...........
I'm not comfortable posting pictures of my grandkids anywhere online. I trust the Cherries, but you won't be seeing a lo with grandkids in it.
I wonder, sometimes, if we ever give God a headache.
If I understand it right, you can set your preference so that only friends can see your profile. But that doesn't stop them from copying a picture you have and putting it in their profile.Rona wrote:On facebook I thought only your "friends" could view your pictures. I do worry about it some, but at my age, my size and my looks....... no one will be interested. LOL But I think he has a good point. I think I'll go delete all my submissions that have family pics on them. You just never know.

It's so sad that we have to worry about such things. All we are trying to do is share with each other & then those creepy people have to screw it up for us!

It does concern me some. That's why I don't post any layouts with last names or even my dog's registered names.
