I am seriously thinking of starting Weight WAtchers and wondered if anyone here has done it. I see they have a few online options, and also the classes. I am not sure if I am dedicated enough to do the online, but don't know if I want to spend the time going to the meetings. What do they do in the meetings? I need to do something, this summer and ice cream have caught up with me.

I lost 30 pounds almost 30 years and then because of a serious illness I gained a ton of weight BUT the WW program is an extremely sound way to lose weight.
Last year I joined again and have now lost right at 80 pounds. I have 18 more to be back down to my original goal weight. Since I'm a lifetime member I don't have to attend the meetings, well... except that I'm over goal and should, but I do once a month for motivation.
The meetings provide motivation, hopefully some behavior modification ideas so that when you get to goal weight you will stay there and meal ideas as well.
I also do the online WW E-tools. Since I'm already a computer geek this was exactly what I needed. I think it's something like 12 or 13 dollars a month but in some areas there are specials when you join and you can get it free.
With the E-tools you can keep up with everything on your computer/laptop. You can look up recipes, figure out the points for your own recipes, keep track of absolutely every thing you do and need online - I would be devastated without this and don't know how I survived without it!
I know that Dolphin Girl also just reached her goal weight. She's done beautifully on the WW program.
Good luck to you - whatever you decide!

I am currently doing Weight Watchers. I have lost over 80 pounds on the program and still have a ways to go. I love the program because you learn from day one to eat real/regular foods. I attend the meetings because I like the accountability of the weekly weigh ins and the group meetings. Basically the meetings have a topic for the week and the leader will discuss the topic and then everyone who wants to add to it, ask questions, makes suggestions, can do so. But you don't have to talk if you don't want to. When I was struggling, my BF joined so he could go with me to the meetings and it helped him to reach his goal and learn about portion control.
I have done the online version as well and like what the e-Tools has to offer. Plus they have some really good message boards to keep you motivated. You just need to figure out which way will work best for you.
If you have any questions about the program or general questions, just post them here. We're always happy to help!

I'm a WW lifetime member that lost 50 pounds while attending weekly meetings and making the changes for healthier eating and exercizing. The meetings are filled with information and inspiration to guide you in reaching your goal and also maintaining. I'm back each week working on the pounds that crept back on because I got lazy and didn't use the tools I'd learn for healthy eating. The great thing about WW is you don't "diet"...there aren't any off limit foods just better choices and you can still enjoy eating out, holidays and celebrations. My sister & brother-in-law lost weigh using the online WW plan. Check out the WW website and attend a meeting. You deserve to spend at least one hour a week for yourself! Wishing you success in reaching your goal!

I did it from 2006-2007 & lost 100lbs in one year. The week I made goal I got pregnant. Fast forward to now & I'm really struggling to drop 50lbs. I'm certain I could lose it if I focused again. I just can't/won't get myself to do it all the time, consistently. It's a great program when you're in the right mindset for it.

It is an excellent program and it is soooo easy. You can still eat a slice of cake if you go to a birthday party or give in to your cravings. They just teach you how to do it and implement it into your program. Don't forget to take a multi-vitamin and drink lots of water. But, I think that is with any diet.
I was one it. Went to the meetings. I think it's a great choice in Healthy eating. I just could not afford the money for the meetings. If u work the program, it works for you:)
I need to wrap my head around it again!
There website is pretty cool. I met a group of women. And we get together.

I used to do WW and and dropped 2 dress sizes along with exercising a few times a week. I try to still follow the plan without going to meetings. There's also a scrapbooking group on weightwatchers.com that keeps me focused as well.
I think you will do good with it. I've never heard anyone say they didn't suceed.

I do WW. I have never gone to a meeting though. I bought the at home kit...and made myself responsible for my weigh ins. I lost almost 70 lbs from Jan 2007- March 2008. Got preggers with my 3rd..had him Dec 2008 and since then have lost all my pregnancy weight and working on my orginal goal. Only have about 3 more lbs until I reach it. I defintely recommend WW!
If you are interested...the forum Our Weight Watchers...we run a Biggest Loser style contest...we are doing sign ups. It's a nice little motivation too! Good luck!

I tried weight watchers online for a couple of months. I liked it and it did help me lose weight, but in the end, I went back to www.SparkPeople.com because it is a very similar online tool/community and it's free.
I just got back from my weekly WW meeting and am down another 2lbs for a grand total of 19 over the past 4 months. I like the program: I can eat anything I want...I just have to count the points and not go over the set amount for each day. I don't feel deprived or hungry and I have found the meetings invaluable. I would not check in on-line, I know myself too well. I need the accountability of the weigh in and the inspiration of the meetings. I love it! I'll reach goal in another 11 lbs.
WAS a TIKI BAR GIRL AND ALWAYS WILL BE
When I was actually on WW, I lost a total of 90 lbs! I currently can't afford to do it again (and even though I am on SparkPeople, I need someone to help hold me accountable...), but I would so reccomend the program. It is all about changing how you eat, rather than giving up foods!
