How very sad. I hope she pulls through this. I can't help but wonder if she has undiagonosed post-partum depression. One of my closest friends did - didn't start treatment until her child was 2 and by then she was in a sad state. She's been on meds for years and is pretty much her old self and coping with life. I hope things turn around for your niece.
That's awful!!! I hope she recovers and gets the help she needs.

I hope everything turns out ok for her and the kids
So sorry to hear this. My thoughts will be with the family!
Oh, Kara
How heartbreaking!!
My mother took over 100 pills (various assortment) back in April, in an attempt to kill herself. Luckily, my brother came home and found her, gave her CPR and called an ambulance. The doctors at the hospital told us to prepare for the worst because she needed to put on a ventilator because she could not breathe on her own, we never thought we would see her again. Thankfully, they shipped her out to a bigger facility and she was treated and stayed for some intense therapy as well. I think she was hospitalized for a month total.
They told us the same thing about her liver, the toxins were outrageously high. After 3 days in ICU she started to come around...the toxin levels went down and she was able to come off of the ventilator and her brain scans came back normal. Due to loss of oxygen they thought she would have some brain damage.
My mom has dealt with depression for many years and has other previous suicide attempts but nothing that serious. She still continues to suffer from her depression it's something she deals with on a daily basis.
Depression and suicide are 2 very scary things. It's hard to find help for someone who doesn't want it. . and it's scary to watch someone spiraling out of control.
Sending lots of HUGS, thoughts and prayers her way and to her family as well. I'm here if you need/want to talk.

Kara, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope and pray that she will recover physically without needing a transplant and that she will continue to recover emotionally.
