Went to a pary recently and this question came up. I have about 35 including slippers and boots. One of my friends just threw a lot of hers out and now told me she has over 300 left.
The men at the party said they owned 3-4 pairs; a pair of brown, black, sneakers, maybe boots, too.

i own over 200 -- and that is after getting rid of a bunch...but in my defense I wear a size 11 as does my daughter Amanda( 14) so she shares alot of my shoes with me...and when we find a pair we like that fits we tend to buy it in more than one color

I have 5 pair that I wear on a regular basis and about 30 that rarely get worn and some I have just saved because of sentimental reasons (platform shoes from the 70's-80's--yes I'm a packrat!).
My DH and DS have tons more shoes than I do and they are thrown everywhere. I have never been able to train them to pick up no matter how hard I've tried.

I only have about 10 pairs. However, Em is a shoe hog.....she has about 150 pairs. Take her in a store and she will head straight to the shoes. Then she gets pants and tops to match her shoes instead of the other way around.

OMG! I am a shoe fanatic! I have no idea how many pairs I have! Last year dh redid out walk in closet and put rows of shoe racks in for me! I just love shoes! It is my other addiction!
