We just had the "Margarita Fest" earlier this month.

The Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota holds Scrapfest the 2nd weekend in September. Archivers sponsors it and lots of vendors are there, and each has a booth and most of them have free Make & Takes. Some also have additional ones you pay for. You pay for a badge and that allows you to participate. I think last year the badge was under $15. The vendors also have classes you can take for additional fees, in the many classrooms throughout the mall. The lines are long waiting for the Make & Takes. Some vendors have it down and have you do things while in line so when you get to the table, you assemble and go to the next one. There is no buying at the booths. Everything is sold at Archivers, which is in the Mall. If you are interested in attending, check Archivers website for information. Clasess fill up very fast. Usually many are sold out within hours. So you have to be quick. And another thing to add is if you plan on coming for 1 day, you will probably be dissappointed, because you will miss a lot. All the local Scrapstores also hold all night crops. It is pretty crazy. Just to give you an idea about 10,000 people atttended last year.

I am local, so I go all 3 days. I take 3-4 classes and do most of the make & takes.

I would love to travel to all these festivals! The Margarita and Scrapfest sound especially tempting!!

Hot air balloon festival in Quechee VT. HOwever, I'm moving to NM and will be near the Albuquerque balloon festival

The end of August, we have a Hot-air balloon festival. It's nice because you can actually talk to the pilots and it's a great photo opportunity. My family and I have helped "crew' for a balloon team for several years now. We help set up the balloon, launch it and then chase the balloon, and help them land safely and pack it up. We've all gotten to ride in one too, which is an incredible experience (esp if you aren't real fond of heights!).

in Stockton CA, the asparagus festival was a couple weeks ago and we went. It's been a couple years since I've been and it was as yummy as I remember.
in Castroville CA, the artichoke festival was this weekend but we didn't go. I can only image how yummy it would have been!

in Yuba City CA, they used to have a prune festival - omg the prune ice cream and prune donuts were soooo good.



and WHY haven't I heard of Monterey's squid festival? that is coming up and I haven't' heard anything about it. Too bad we won't be here for that

Bwahahahahaha! Oh I am NOT joking! LMAO I think they actually tried changing the prune festival to the "plum" festival so it would be more appealing. And squid... hey it can't be too bad can it? even my 6 y/o dd was scarfing down calamari last week and didn't even stop to ask what it was. she prolly thought it was chicken fingers? hahaha

We don't really have any festivals around my home town, but they do have a rodeo the last weekend in June every year and that is a big deal. Rodeo on Fri, Sat & Sun, parade on sat, city wide garage sales, the works. So that is always a fun weekend. And then this year is also our 125th anniversary, so they are having a big celebration the first weekend in June. Should be interesting.


eta: We also have Hot Dog Days on a friday in August. All the businesses get together in groups of 4 or 5 and serve hot dogs up and down main street (only about 4 blocks long) as a thank you for your business. Some of them get a little clever and serve nachos and call them cheesy dogs, or ice cream floats and call them dessert dogs, etc. Everything is free and you can have as much as you want.
