Well we made it through Gustav. Everything at my house is ok. We are still out of electricity- but I expect it to be turned on soon, everyone around us is back on, so I hope it won't be much longer. We've lost everything in both of our freezers and refrigerator, so I have to start from scratch there. Last hurricane in this area, FEMA provided money for those that lost all food, so we'll see this time around - last time there were people getting money that didn't really lose anything (fraud), so they may have ruined that for everyone so there's a chance we'll get nothing. We'll just wait and see what happens. But we made it, no major damage to any of my family or friends. We are staying with my mother-in-law for now, and depending on if I can get into my house and cleaned up (the air is stale and sticky - humid), I don't know when I am going back to work. It's crazy though, there are curfews in cities, and gas is a precious commodity. There are lines for gas that are sometimes hours long. I am thankful that I tanked up before the storm, but I am scared of going back to work and not being able to find gas - I have a 30 minute commute (one way). It could have been much worse (that's what everyone says), and now we're watching the tropics once again to see if we are going to get hit again...but for now we're under tornado warnings from remaining bad weather...I can't wait to stop watching the Weather Channel and our local meteorologists. ick. TTYL!

I'm so very glad you are okay and that it wasn't nearly as destructive as they had predicted!
Glad to hear you are safe. Hope you get home soon.

So glad to hear from you and know that everyone is safe! They set up distribution sites here yesterday for food, ice and water....maybe that is a good sign that FEMA is going to still provide assistance for things like food and water!
Hopefully you will get your electricity turned on today! Be safe and just conserve your gas. After Katrina my employer provided gas for those of us that had to go to work, would that be an option for you?
Take care and let me know if I can do anything to help! I am pretty close to you!!

Glad to hear you gals are okay. My parents/brother are heading back to New Orleans tomorrow. They are pretty sure that there is power, but they have a backup place for a night or two if there isn't.

I'm glad you made it through okay! I know hurricanes are nothing to play with. We have a lot of evacuees up here in Louisville right now waiting to go home.
