Re: I had to take ds to the ER this afternoon
I have a question though----how does he "spin backwards"?? I can't figure that out for the life of me, Rhonda. But I'm not afraid to ask, at least.

I don't mind questions about my ds at all! Basically he stands in one spot and turns around and around but he does it counter clockwise. He also closes his eyes or rolls his eyes backwards. The therapists say he does it for stimulation and to re-direct him when he does it which means get him to pay attention to something else.
He also walks on the top of his feet sometimes. You have to see it to believe it. NOT his tippy toes. The top of his foot! It looks painful but doesn't seem to bug him. To put a stop to that he often wears hard soled shoes all day so he simply can't do it.

Blood spewing from your child is never a relaxing event. Glad he's OK, hope you are recovering too!

Yikes Rhonda--that had to be scary! I can't believe how much the head bleeds. I'm glad he's going to be ok.

When my son was playing t-ball, and dh was coaching, one of the little girls threw the bat and it hit dh smack in the  forehead. I was taking dd to the restroom at the time, we came back to the field to see dh laying on the ground with his head in the lap of the team mom and her holding a Huggies on his head...they were both covered in blood. One of the mom's was ushering all of the kids off the field as the ambulance pulled in for him! Yeah, that's alot of blood! DH is such a dork that he was excited about the ambulance ride, LOL

hehe! I should've asked the doctor for a few packets of the skin glue. :-D

Laura, that would've freaked me out! Funny about the other Mom using a Huggie though.

Glad he's okay!!

Ahh, I remember Xander's first bloody head wound! It was mother's day and he fell off the bed and hit his head on my nightstand. And before you judge me for scrapping that, I DID wait till after he was all patched up before taking pictures! :-D

Aww, hugs to both of you!

My little brother  has cerebral palsy and fell quite often while we were growing up. I couldn'd even begin to tell you how many times his head has been stitched and glued back together. I don't know how my mom did it!

Geez - scary, isn't it?  I'm glad it turned out ok - just be warned, with a boy this is the first of many, many bumps, bruises and blood!  My boys both always looked as if they had been beaten - for some reason, boys run into things rather than around them!  And the stitches! I've lost count of those! The one that made me the maddest was when my kids were having a rock fight with other neighborhood boys!  You don't see girls in rock fights - they're too sane! lol

Oh Gosh!  What a day for the both of you!  {{hugs}}  Hope you're both doing better today!

I know how hard it can be.  2 of my 3 boys are autistic.  The whole self-stim/spinning thing is nothing new to me!
