For some reason, as soon as I saw the words "four year old dies", I couldn't bring myself to read the article... hits too close to home when you've got your OWN 4 year old... :(
How sad.... completely stupid! I don't know how you forget a child

Now, that is now what I typed, but then maybe it how I feel about this one.
I find it crazy that for 17 hours that child was left in this hot car. How can you forget your child that long?

I was the same way, as soon as I saw the title, I was done. Even if my child were sleeping, I don't think I would ever forget he were with me. (he's 19 now) He went everywhere with me.

Are you freaking kidding me? Seriously. How do you ever forget about your child .. let alone for SEVENTEEN HOURS???? Uhm hello ... 4 year olds make lots of noise, did they not notice he was "quiet?" In that seventeen hours, did they not feed their children??? Where was the 4 year old when everyone else ate?
Ugh, this just totally disgusts me.

I can't...I can't read it. Like the rest of you there is NO way.
My heart is aching just reading the posts to this thread.

I did read the article and will say that the parents are facing numerous charges many in relation to 4 other children. Doesn't sound like it was a case of "forgetting". I hope they rot in prison for the rest of their lives.
Totally agree with you guys on this...how...how can you "forget" your 4 yr old for 17 frickin hours????!!!!!!

It is impossible to forget that a child is not around for 17 hours! seriously, I'd give an hour at most before you realised that a four year old was not making noise or bugging you or something! This is just wrong. Poor little boy.
again, no jail for these people, LOCK THEM in a car in Las Vegas heat for 17 hours!! This stuff makes me sick. Totally why I try not to watch the news.

i'm thinking the child was not forgotten...did you read that they have charges pending against them for the conditions of their other children? it sounds to me that they have a drug or alcohol problem maybe the child was forgotten but i'm thinking drugs would alter their minds enough for them not to realize that no one put the 4 yr old to bed. i'm guessing they have problems. not that that is an excuse. this is absolutely tragic and I hope they get something out of it, especially since they are brought up on charges for their other children

Sometime this past year, there was a similar case here in California where a parent left their child inside of the car to go into one of the local Indian Casinos to gamble. Luckily the child didn't die because someone else in the parking lot saw/heard the kid and got help. The other similar cases I have heard about usually included drugs or alcohol in the mix - where the parent was so blitzed they "forgot". It's just sad that there are people who don't put the well-being of their children first.

We had a few of these in MN last year and they were written off as "accidents". Whatever. I have NO idea how you'd forget a child in the car. I'm the most forgetful person I know and I've never forgotten a kid in the car.
