This is what I found out about my problem!!!!  They said my nodule is "cold" but didn't tell me what that ment so I did a search on the web!!!!  I am just sick!!!!!!What is significant about whether a nodule is "hot" or "cold?"Functioning or "hot" nodules only rarely are from cancer. Nearly all thyroid cancers are nonfunctioning or "cold" nodules. Moreover, even among "cold" nodules, cancer is infrequent (less than 5 percent of cases).

My youngest daughter just had surgery for this.  Non evasive, done in the dr's office.  And all is fine. She will be on meds the rest of her life.  I hope thats the worse it is for you. To be honest everyone i talked to when we found out, knew someone and all was well.  But you on the other hand who has had the year from hell, I will hope for the best!!
