Since the topic of the cricut came up, I thought I'd mention the new design studio. I got an email last week from cricut.com and was able to download the new design studio to my computer and use the trial version. The reason I mention this is, all the font and pattern cartridges downloaded when I did this. I had the special cord to attach my cricut to my compute, ( not sure how I had it, but I'm sure it can be purchased at a local store). I don't know how long the trial will work. I also don't know how they will know if you have the cartridge or not when it comes to actually purchasing the regular version. Right now all I can think of is the fact I can use all the cartridges basically for free. It's super easy and can do a few things you can't do when using the cricut by itself.The design studio is $89....Hope you all have a merry christmas.Suzie

Suzie,You can get more information off the Cricut website..............All the cartridges come up to create the designs, but when you go to cut them, the trial version will only work for the ones that came with your machine (George for the baby bug and Accent Essentials and something else for the big bug). Once you purchase the software, you can only cut what you have the cartridges for, even though you can design with all of them. It makes you put the cartridge in to verify you have it before cutting. Lots of really cool features with the software though and I'm excited to be getting it for Christmas!! On the Cricut website, in Community, you can also find what some others have created so far.........I'm quite impressed!!! Have fun!!

The trial only works with the carts that came with the Cricut - George and 2 others.In order to use the others when the full version comes out - you must have the carts.Just to warn you.Jenna

That's funny....cause my trial has been cutting several of the cartridges I don't have and it hasn't asked me more any cartridges. I just did doodletype....and base camp which I don't have. I just figured because it was the trial it was letting me do more...and honestly wasn't sure, based on the trial how they would mandate making sure you had the cartridge. Has anyone figured out how long it will last? The trial version that is?'Syzue

DH somehow bought me the kit for this before it was out. I believe he said he got the owner of my LSS to get it for him. It has the full version CD, usb cable and manual. WOO HOO. Can't wait to install it on my PC.
My best friend has this. I went over to her house on Christmas Eve and she was showing me .... way too cool! I'm going to get it for my mom!
