*YuM* we bought an ice cream maker, one of the easy ones that makes ice cream in the kitchen in about 30 minutes. No more rock salt and ice melting all over the patio, lol.  We made our first batch last nite and now I need lots more yummy recipes, I love it!  Do you have any tried & true favorites?

here is the recipe I made, using about half a carton of strawberries I had in the fridge. It was soooooooooooooo GOOD, I am seriously craving more!

Chunky Strawberry Ice Cream
fresh strawberries
1/3 cup sugar
dash of vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 cup half & half
*tablespoon or two of Nestle Strawberry Quick

Hull and slice the strawberries, then mash in a bowl with the sugar and vanilla. Stir in the cream, half & half and strawberry quick syrup if desired. (this gave it a delish just-like-store-bought-flavor) Cover and refrigerate mixture overnight, then freeze as directed.

I just made this toffee crunch from all recipes and its really good
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • Dash salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 ounces German sweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 (1.4 ounce) bars Heath candy bars, crushed
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a saucepan, combine the egg, sugar and salt. Gradually add milk. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture reaches 160 degrees F and coats the back of a metal spoon. Remove from the heat. Whisk in chocolate, then add cream, coffee and vanilla. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  2. Fold in candy and nuts. Fill cylinder of ice cream freezer; freeze according to manufacturer's directions. Allow to ripen in ice cream freezer or firm up in the freezer for 2-4 hours before serving.

Yum!  Maybe now I'll use the ice cream maker I "had to have " last summer that is still in the box.

DSs received one of those that is shaped like a ball and you roll around.  It is kindof fun, but takes awhile.  We did it while watching a movie.  We added a little mint extract and some mini chocolate chips to make some YUMMY mint chip.
