I was doing a "white space" search in the gallery and  when I try to click on a layout from that search it takes me to the first page of the search, not a single layout.

I can't get it to do that for me. If you can send me the link to the page where clicking on the layouts takes you back to the first page of the search, I should be able to figure out the problem.
