Re: First Birthday gift ideas please
Well, I decided on (in addition to the JC Penney photo shoot) a Michigan made Teddy Bear from Chelsea Teddy Bear Factory. I visited the factory a couple years ago and had forgotten that I had given all my great nieces and nephews this bear for their first birthdays so I must get one for my grandchil...

Re: First Birthday gift ideas please
Great ideas all. I like the savings bond idea - I'll think on that. My son has a couple that were given to him as a child. We have a Red Flyer Wagon that is part of the family. :) I did get a Groupon for a photo session at JC Penney but I want something that little Linus can hold on to. I like the i...

First Birthday gift ideas please
I'm looking for some fun suggestions for a special gift for my first grandson's first birthday. His folks are having a party to celebrate his February 12th birthday so I've got a month to come up with something amazing.

Re: John Grisham
I didn't realize he had a young adult series. Have to check it out.
Just finished reading his newest, The Litigators. It was great!

Explosive Eighteen
Just finished Janet Evanovich's latest Stephanie Plum volume. Fun stuff. I like this one better than the last. Stephanie is still torn between Ranger and Morelli and Lula is hilarious.

Re: Bucket List scrapbook
I haven't done a scrapbook album, but I'm doing a bucket list box... using the Close To My Heart My Creations Memory Game box. It's turning out really cute. It's almost done, so I'll be posting pics soon. Mindy - so cool! Send me a reminder when you post your photos 'cause I don't get on here much....

Bucket List scrapbook
Has anyone ever done a scrapbook of their "Bucket List?" I am trying to put together a list of things I'd like to do before I kick the bucket and was thinking it would be fun to make a scrapbook of it. Like, do a page that describes what I want to do and then put in a photo of me doing it ...

The Art of Forgetting
Yet another first time author wrote this terrific novel. She happens to be from Ann Arbor, MI which is what first caught my attention. The story takes you on the journey of two friends as they adjust to changes in their relationship and lives after one of them suffers a closed head injury. Since I k...

Wherever Grace is Needed
Loved this book by Elizabeth Bass. Exploring the changing dynamics of a family that has to learn to deal with their father succumbing to Alzheimer's. Lots of interesting characters and twists and turns.

The Language of Flowers
Another first novel by an excellent female author, Vanessa Diffenbaugh. This one explores the life of a young woman who aged out of foster and in fits and starts finds her way in the "real world" through the language of flowers. This book will touch you and give you new insight into what h...

The Kitchen Daughter
A fabulous first novel by Jael McHenry. If you love food novels that explore pain and relationships and a small dose of the supernatural, this is the book for you. I really enjoyed reading this and was very impressed with the quality of writing and character development.

Re: The Help
A truly excellent book. I read it last year--before there was news of a movie being made. I've really glad I read it first. They did a wonderful job with the movie, but there is so much more depth in the book. I recommend this book to everyone!
Re: My Reading list :)
Breakfast at Sally's is in at the library. Going to pick it up on my way home tonight. I'll have to set aside George MacDonald's Complete Fairy Tales (very good!) in order to read this. I'll post when I finish. Did you ever get to read this?? What did you think?? Yes, I did read it and loved it. I ...

The Weird Sisters
You MUST read this book! An excellent first novel by Eleanor Brown. You can read more about it here http://www.eleanor-brown.com/ I thoroughly enjoyed it. She's a fantastic writer and the way she tells the story in the voice of all three sisters at once is so different and works so well. Fabulous! T...
