I use the program Make the Cut. It's very user friendly and costs under $60. I buy cartridges on Ebay and have never paid more than $25 for any of them.

I don't have any experience with SCAL but I have MTC and I LOVE it!! It is so easy to use. I'm sure it can do much more than I've used so far, but it's been worth the $$ to me just being able to cut all the different fonts already installed on my computer and those I've downloaded from various websi...

The other program that works with a Cricut and your computer is called Make the Cut. It is a great program and so easy to use.
