Hi,
I use rrdtool 1.2.6 with cacti (Linux) 0.8.6f. Everything works well but I have a problem with max values. When I set in data template a maximum value, on my graph I have a hole and I would like to have the last good value. I don't know if I'm clear and if you see what I want to say but Here are two snapshot of the first graph (in green) with cacti is what I do not want, and another with an old rrd and not cacti where you can see flat area but not holes.
If someone could help me giving me ideas or suggestions..
Thanx by advance

If you updated the max value in the data template, you'll need to manually update your rrd file(s), since cacti does not do this (yet).

Nope. This is actually a rrdtool-ism, and very much by design.cornut wrote:The problem is actually I would like rrd to draw a line instead of drawing nothing when cacti reach the max value. Is that possible?
The purpose of this maximum value is to have rrdtool reject any values which are higher than they could/should be. For example, if the poll showed that your interface did 40MB/s, and the interface only does 10MB/s (and such you've configured your maximum value appropriately) then rrdtool knows that value should be thrown out. Otherwise you'd get a big spike on your graph, and your summary values would be affected too.
The "gap" means that there was no useful data during that period.
Hope this helps,
Further to this, comparing your two graphs, I am guessing your second ("working") graph simply had a higher maximum value configured, or no maximum at all.
You should just ensure that your maximum value for your graphs are correct. For an interface, you could set it to the maximum speed of said interface.
