Adding multiple servers

Post by toon »

Hello,

I've recently installed Cacti and must say I'm pretty happy with it. I only have 1 huge annoyance with it, and that is how I add servers. Even though I use a template when I add a server, I still have to set up all the data-sources and graph management myself - something that is okay if you have 2 servers but becomes a pain when you have over 40.

Since all the servers use exacly the same setup - the only difference being the IP-adress - this sounds like it could be made a lot easier using a template for everything. Preferably through a script - i.e ./addserver default-tree serverNAME serverIP [and snmpinfo, perhaps).

I've searched a bit around for this but found nothing.

Thanks!

This has been requested before. And there's already a feature request. There has been a script contribution some months ago; I do not remember exactly. But nothing in mainstream code, up to now. But there have been some signs, that this may change in upcoming release 0.9.

Yeah? Okay, I've been without it for 6 months now, guess I can wait a bit more.
