New install - some difficulties with rrdtool

Post by hodgeswalt »

I am "closely" following the extremely excellent "Cacti SNMP Management" document by Lee Carter. I have worked my way through some issues, but am stumped by the rrdtool install.

My box is FC4 without any patches - fresh from iso build. sha1 sums agreed to published sums.
my install files:
cacti-0.8.6g.tar.gz
httpd-2.0.54.tar.gz
mysql-4.1.14.tar.gz
net-snmp-5.1.3.1.tar.gz
php-5.0.5.tar.gz
rrdtool-1.2.11.tar.gz

I am the step to install rrdtool. I receive the following:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
* I found a copy of pkgconfig, but there is no cgilib.pc file around.
You may want to set the PKG_CONFIG_PATH variable to point to its
location.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have downloaded cgilib-0.5.tar.gz.
Where / how is this installed?

Sorry for the newbe questions.

TIA,
Walt

Code: Select all

./configure --disable-rrdcgi --disable-perl --disable-tcl --disable-python
Run that to configure RRDTool for compile.

Also, why not install php, mysql, apache and net-snmp from packages (rpms)?

Mr. rony:
I greatly appreciate your prompt reply. I successfully performed the make, and make install.

Am now doing the net-snmp install.

The answer to your question , is that I am too new to this install to deviate from the Lee Carter script.

When I redo my install, I will investigate an RMP based install and try that route.

Again, many thanks for you kind assistance.

Walt
