Duplicating Cacti Server

Post by adrianmarsh »

Hi,

I'm starting to think about whats needed for any future upgrades of Cacti. Ideally I'd like to have a test system set aside that I could play with before messing with production. To do this I'll have to clone the production system off to another server.

So I've questions:

1) Can you poll a device from two systems without corrupting the results (I'm asking this for COUNTER DS' only) ?
2) Is it enough to backup the MySql DB, and then import it into the second system (where "localhost" is used for the DB reference on both systems) ? Are there any other DB changes needed ?

1) Yes.
2) Yes, assuming all the paths for things remain the same.
