update ... graphs don't seem to updating. also found in cacit log

but there are really like 2000 hosts ...

So ... all new platform and server, and using cactid :-)

1) You have 2 versions of poller in your cron or you have a poller in your cron and cactid in your cron, both of which are not correct.
2) What version of Cactid. If version 0.8.6f, then run the following from your Cactid source directory:

gdb cactid
b *0x804db09
b *0x804f3c3
quit/exit (?) one of these two should get it.

record the lines of code pointed to by gdb and post here.

3) You have a problematic duplicate DS issue in your database as well.

Yes! I'm seeing that in the log ... but only one CRON entry for poller.php! As below. I'm unclear if cactid need the CRON entry or not from the documentation. FYI, there are 9727 RRD files, of which 2079 have not been update in over one day, and the rest have not been updated in 3.5 hours.

FYI .. with the cron-job DISABLED .. I am getting NO activity ... NOTHING in cacti.log at all ...

But when I re-enable the cron job, then it seems I'm getting both poller types!

Please try the attached poller.c. I develop in Windows and it has the nagging security feature to set all memory to zero's prior to a program taking space, so I never saw this bug.

I suspect that the dupe's you experienced were because you may have been manually running the poller whilst the cron was running at the same time.

You are correct that I was manually running testing the poller. I will try the poller.c and recompile. Probably you guessed from the timestamps.

QUESTION: how does cactid work:
1) you still need the same CRON job as before, but when poller.php runs it checks to see if if should spawn cactid ro cmp.php.

2) CRON is to start poller.php/cmd.php only, and some internal timer is used to fire cactid?

FYI ... still no updated to RRD files in hours .. cron job is disabled - should I re-enable it?

new cactid compiled and installed in the correct path. I turned the poller.php cron job back on ... waiting to see what happens. log is still zero-length.

Answer 2 is correct, you only schedule poller.php, it calls either cmd.php or Cactid.

you need to run cactid from the command line in MEDIUM logging level as follows:

cactid <start_host_id> <end_host_id>

Scan the first 10 or so hosts. You should get output. If not, then you need to look further.

Your perl scripts are not returning data properly. I don't quite understand why. I will have to look at what changed between releases. For now, please revert to the previous release.

Previous release of cacti, or of cactid? .. this is 0.8.6g currently with the 0.8.6f cactid.
