Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in....

Post by bpwatts78 »

I get the following error whenever I click on the Graph button at the very top (next to Console):

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /var/www/html/cacti/graph_view.php on line 578

The thing is, my graph_view.php is 23120 which is the correct size comparing to a working install. I can see graphs correctly under Graph Management with all the data appearing as it should.

This is a new installation. I compiled rrdtool and all of its required libraries.

Thanks for any help!

I can supply more information to troubleshoot this.

Does anyone have any troubleshooting steps to work around this?

Just figured this one out myself.

It's a php issue. short_open_tags in your php.ini needs to be enabled. I'm not sure of the security or other implications with this though. I just enabled it and all seems well enough.

More info can be found at http://bugs.cacti.net/view.php?id=559

Hope this helps.
