To prevent yourself from seeing the command windows open every 5 minutes, run the scheduled task as a different user than you use to login to your computer.

That means you have a permission problem. Make sure the user account you are using has the same rights as the user you were previously using.

If you can't run it under another account then you may try to use bgrun.exe (http://www.jukkis.net/bgrun/) which runs any command in hidden window... no more popups in this case.

For example:

Code: Select all

c:\bgrun\bgrun.exe c:\php\bin\php.exe c:\inetpub\wwwroot\cacti\cmd.php
Of course all paths depends on your config.

wow, old thread.

You really should have the scheduled task run under a DIFFERENT user, from the one which you use daily. That will solve this problem easily.

As for the location, yes... the field which says: Run, you need to modify.

Run hidden scheduled task

Post by megrim »

To run a hidden scheduled task use the 'SYSTEM' user which already exists for that purpose. This way, you don't have to create a new one.

PS: I know that this thread is very old... but it might help other :-?

The SYSTEM account will work fine, assuming no scripts need to be executed against a remote Windows box. Otherwise, you need a domain account to run the scheduled task.
