How Cisco NBAR count BYTES AND PACKETS?

Post by dogfart »

HI! Here is the NBAR output from router.

FastEthernet0/0
Input Output
Protocol Packet Count Packet Count
Byte Count Byte Count
5 minute bit rate (bps) 5 minute bit rate (bps)
------------------------ ------------------------ ------------------------
sqlnet 59080821 55860631
10235036017 7254567648
21000 0
secure-http 5637890 4236744
2988891546 762505245
13000 0
http 13620327 9259199
16792438344 925834104
7000 0

For byte count for http there is In 16792438344
and Out 925834104.

When I use bytes/inout data template I get the Outbound 0.0 all the time?

How does it calculate bytes and graph it ????????????

Regards

I think that the NBAR data template is broken : check "Maximum Value" for nbar_bytesout.

The best way would be to choose the theorical maximum value of the interface you're graphing. You can always choose '100000000' for 100 mbps if you don't know it.

You need to use rrdtool tune file.rrd -a nbar_bytesin:100000000, or delete the .rrd files (they'll be recreated with the correct maximum values).
