Cannot connect to MySQL Database

Post by js123 »

Hi All,

I have installed and configured the following on my win2003 server:

mysql 4.1.13
php 4.4.0
rrdtool 1.2.10
cacti-0.86f

However, when I go to my web server I get the following error:

"Cannot connect to MySQL server on 'mcr-mrtg1.frb.gov'. Please make sure you have specified a valid MySQL database name in 'include/config.php'."

I can go and log via mysql into the cacti database using the cactiuser id and cacti password, the database is on the same box as cacti & when I run php -m I see the mysql module is supported. The config.php setting are correct.

Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks for your help.

Since you're running PHP 4.x, you'll need to run mysql with the old password setting.

Is mcr-mrtg1.frb.gov the same server cacti is running on?

Heh, sure hope that server is nice and firewalled off...
