Gauge question

Post by goofy »

I use a Data Source of type Gauge. This is fed a whole number from my OID poll ( ex. 12 or 8 ). When this Data Source is presented (GPRINT, CF=Last) my number has changed. Ex. 12 turns into 11.96 or 8 turns into 8.02. :-?
Likewhise for my Line1 (CF=AVERAGE) which I want to graph the same numbers. Should this be changed or?
I realize I might lack basic understandig, but can anyone explain?!? Thanks on advance :D [/b]

The 5minute RRA should be whole numbers. However, the 30minute, 1hour, and 2hour RRA's are averages.

Gauge not showing whole numbers

Post by goofy »

Thanks for your answer!!

Nevertheless, my whole numbers get changed.
I attach a file with an extract from the logfile, showing the parsing of the variables from my OID poll. I furthermore attach an extract from the logfile showing the rrdtool update.
Last I attach an image of my graph, which shows the odd numbers.
Below is my graph properties.

/path_to_rrdtool/rrdtool graph - \
--imgformat=PNG \
--start=-86400 \
--end=-300 \
--title="rttMonLatestJitterOperOWDelay" \
--base=1000 \
--height=120 \
--width=500 \
--alt-autoscale-max \
--lower-limit=0 \
--vertical-label="msek" \
--slope-mode \
DEF:a="/path_to_cacti/rra/ow_sd_48.rrd":OW_SD:AVERAGE \
LINE1:a#4444FF:"" \
GPRINT:a:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" \
GPRINT:a:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s"

Does this line seem strange:
DEF:a="/path_to_cacti/rra/ow_sd_48.rrd":OW_SD:AVERAGE \
Also, please run a data source debug on your data soure and post that as well.

Hmm, No.. That is the name of my datasource, OneWay_SourceDestination. And the path is removed.
Below the Data Source Debug:

//usr/local/bin/rrdtool-1.2.10/bin/rrdtool create \
/var/www/html/cacti/rra/ow_sd_48.rrd \
--step 300 \
DS:OW_DS:GAUGE:600:0:500 \
DS:OW_SD:GAUGE:600:0:500 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797 \
