How to debug data input scripts/methods.

Post by hterag »

G'day all,
I have a few scripts that are causing me problems, a few I have solved by deleting the rrd file and recreating it, but a few I am really stuck on how to fix it.

I have a script that outputs 2 parameters which are configured in cacti as a data input method.

Cacti creates the rrd file correctly and display the graph but only updates 1 of the data fields.

In the cacti log I can see it only runs "rrdtool update" with one variable to update. Is there anyway to debug this and work out what part of cacti or the script is doing something wrong?

This is really tedious to work out what is going wrong (and I haven't yet)

I have recreated the data input, template graph templates and graph several times all with the same result.

help, before I go mad. :)

Is is PHP Script Server or just a plain old script?

I think I have most of them sorted out now.
I can't say for sure what the problem was.
This is what I did...

delete all the graph and data templates
delete all the data input methods.
recreated them all from the ground up
still had some values not being parsed.
after that I just view the data input methods and clicked 'save'
then it all started working.
