Which Installation files works best with XP Pro

Post by greymatter »

Hi,

I am new to Cacti. I wish to install Cacti from scratch and would like recommendations on which files I should download which would give me the least amount of problems on a windows xp pro machine. Meaning, Version numbers of apache or IIS, cactid, netsnmp, etc. If you have Cacti running on your XP machine, please tell me your setup. Any help from you guru's I would greatly appreciate it and thank you in advance. If anyone could also provide a more detailed instruction on to installing Cacti and running it properly besides the online instructions found on the website... this would also be much appreciated. Thanks again.

While I'm running on Win2K3, I'd recommend

Cacti 0.8.6d
MySQL 4.1.x
PHP 4.x
Apache (I'm using IIS, but on XP it would be the personal version of IIS which has a limited number of connections).
No net-snmp unless you must have it. PHP SNMP works just fine for me.

The web install instructions are pretty good. Why not follow them and then post if you have problems.
