SNMP ERROR

Post by sawoad »

Hi - I have the following installed on a redhat linux server, (2.6.9-5):

mysql 4.1.11
php 5.0.4
rrdtool 1.2.7
cacti-0.8.6d
apache 2.0.54

So- I have another machine running:

net-snmp-5.2.1

and so - I try adding this machine as a device within Cacti, fill in all the info, and when I click on 'save', at the top in red I see

'SNMP ERROR'

Now - from the server with Cacti, I issue the following command:

/usr/local/bin/snmpget -c whatever -v 2c machine.name system.sysUpTime.0

and it works fine. So - I'm not exactly sure why Cacti is not able to get what it needs..

Anybody have the same sort of issue?

Does the device have a SysDesc? Cacti attempts to retrieve this snmp information when you edit the host. If for some reason, the host does not have the requisite information, it will show the error. If you device is responding to snmp however, you should still be able to graph.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
