getting the graphs to work

I have everything set up and no errors as far as I can tell. Are the default graphs that come with the installation supposed to be visible with out any configuring? Im not sure how to go about trouble shooting Cacti's ablility to output graphs on my systems. When I click on the "Apache Web Hits" default graph this is the output I recieve:

CANNOT FIND DATA SOURCE: /home/www/b0h/public_html/cacti/rra/system_users.rrd

How are the .rrd files generated? Do they come with cacti or are these created some other way? My rra dir is empty. ???

The default graphs that come with cacti will not become visible until everything is working correctly. That is, rrdtool must be setup and cacti must know its location. In addition 'cmd.php' must have been run at least once, so it can generate the rrd files under cacti's 'rra/' subdirectory.

If you think there is a problem, click 'Edit Graph Items' next to any broken graph (Under 'Graphs' in the console). Then click 'Turn Graph Output Preview On' to see the exact nature of the error.

rrdtool is set up properly. So I tried going to the cmd.php by just typing it into the browser and nothing appears in the rra directory still. The dir is owned by the cactiuser that accesses the database. Why doesnt the cmd.php get exectured when you installl or does it?

the perm's are all alright (root), plus the rrd.log is being updated each 5 mins (it gets larger..) what am i doing wrong??

By the way. i just checked.. the rra/ dir is totally empty...

Uhmm to get the graphs to show up initially...but with none of your own data.....you can fromthe command like type php cmd.php and that will generate your .rrd files in that emptry directory. Make sure you have snmp turned on type chkconfig --list and see if snmp is on for run levels 235. Right now I can see the graphs and snmpwalk gives me a bunch of information and then it says it times out at the end. Im currious as to why if you go to the Console and then to SNMP interfaces under View Gathered Interfaces it doesnt show anything. Im not quite sure how this is working yet.....

Maybe this can help some, but I got a similar error. This was caused by a stupid, , but more secure, umask in /etc/profile which was 027. Change this back 022 and everything worked.

Just my input ... an maybe another thing to check?
