- The best thing to do is to familiarize yourself with the concept of snmp and how xml files work.
- Then, having a basic understanding of scripting languages is important.
- The scripting languages Cacti support are endless.
- The most preferred are PHP, Perl, VBS, and shell scripts.
- You also need to understand the concepts of Template development and use of those templates.
- It is very important the you finalize the development of your templates prior to your deployment or you will regreat it.
