possible to use someone elses *.rrd file?

can i use someone elses RRD file? or do they hold info that would screw my graphs up?

also, how can you find out someone elses data source, what info they use to create their graphs?

Sure, you can use .rrd files generated by any other program. All cacti needs to know is the full path and the data source name of the .rrd file. You can discover what data sources are inside an rrd file by doing a:
rrdtool dump FILENAME.RRD
