Bug? Feature? User Error?

Post by solefald »

This is an addition or change of direction for the topic
i posted 20 min ago about Counter Type conversion
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=6618

I am sorry for double posting, but i made some early conclusions that made me look stupid :(

Now, here is the story.
5 border routers that collect interface data for 4 OC-3's and one OC-12.
Data is absolutely correct and matches between Cacti, Cricket and eHealth, so i know for sure that cacti is doing it right.

On Friday i made a new graph, not using a graph template,
but just a grapah that included data sources for traffic_in and traffic_out for each border interface, seemed to work and the graph looked pretty much identical to Cricket graph, but this morning i realized that numbers do not match and after further invetigation it looked like something is wrong with my "handmade" graph, but what exactly is wrong with it i dont know.

I am attaching a graph i made and a graph for the OC-12 so you can see the difference.

Does anyone know what i may be doing wrong here ?

You need to apply a CDEF in your graph definition to multiply your RRD results by 8 (Bytes to Bits), or you can change your results legend from "Bit's per Second" to either "Bytes per Seconds" or as network people like to say "Octets per Second".

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

man, why dint i think about it before ? :)
of course an existing traffic tepmplate would have "Convert bytes to bits" enabled.

thank you!
