Where to get scripts!!!

Post by phriday613 »

Ok.. where/how does everyone make their scripts!

is there a website that has custom scripts for like weather, NIC in/out bytes, virus monitoring?

Or can i just use someone elses *.rrd file and use it on my graphs??!

i like alot of the graphs i see, but have no clue where or how they are made!

Where can i go to learn about custom RRDtool scripts!

Thanks!

Cacti delivers very flexible mechanism for self-written scripts. It can be one line bash script and also it may be a huge application. A common part are input and output parameters. Cacti gives you a possibility to pass several arguments to the script and it is capable of reading values that the script generated. You can use shell, php, perl, etc.

Some of scripts are included with Cacti distribution. The other ones you can find on this message board (http://www.raxnet.net/board/viewforum.php?f=5). After some modifications you can use any other script found on the net. I don't think there is a special web site collecting all purpose scripts for Cacti. People just create them according to their needs. If you are thinking of something specific just use google with some keywords - you should get several options to start with.

And you don't have to learn RRDTol scripts.. just a scripts - again google is your friend: "bash programming", "perl tutorial", etc.

bulek: Very well put. Couldn't have said it better myself :)

Just to add to that, you can also get additional scripts for cacti here:

Hope you find what you are looking for!
