Anything that you think should be in Cacti.

gather system information for precise error reporting

Post by gandalf »

In case of any (possible) error situation it would be nice to gather relevant system information as a basis for any error report.
I'm using ntop (http://www.ntop.org) that has a similar feature to automate error reports.

Under "utilities" a new tab should be created, e.g. "error reporting".
All relevant info should be gathered, e.g.
  • version info of basic OS, cacti, cactid, php, mysql, rrdtool (perhaps perl?)
relevant system settings from the "settings" pages
a free text field to describe the error situation
the possiblity to include the log file
perhaps the possibility to set "DEBUG LEVEL" for logging (?)
perhaps the possibility to generate EMail to specific cacti error list (?)
Of course we all hope, that there won't be any need to use this
Thank you

Greate Feature Request. Can you add it to Mantis?

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
