Post by ashvillerob »

Is it possible to import rrd files into some ofhter database such as MySQL, Access etc.

Or is there any other program that can read rrd files?

Yes and no...... Cacti is built to use rrd's. Can the data be extracted and saved to a database, file, email, etc., yes. But cacti only uses the rrd.

There are perl libraries and others for working with rrd's, rrdtool it's self is a good interface to the files.

So, what are you trying to acomplish?

I want to import the raw data that Cacti gathered into some other DB such as MySQL or Access so that I could run some custom reports against the data.

Look into rrdtool, it has a function to export the rrd into an XML file, then you can use that to import into whatever you like.
