SNMP from WinXP

Post by JamesG »

Hi,

I've just set up Cacti on my Debian box, which works fine with SNMP from the box itself, and also from my router.

I'm trying to get Cacti to obtain SNMP information from my Windows XP machine. I've installed and started the SNMP Service and SNMP Trap Service, set up a trap with the community name "public" that goes to the Debian box, and set it up in the security tab. I can connect fine with the GetIF utility in Windows XP.

But, I can't get SNMP from WinXP in Cacti. On the devices page, it says "SNMP error" in red letters. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong, or what I can do to debug it?

Found it! It was the WinXP SP2 firewall.
