Cacti with Mariadb Galera cluster DB settings

Post by Rno »

Hello,
I'm working n my new cacti install, and I have some issue (main concern) about some settings, that Cacti require during the install process, concerning the Database.
I'm wondering if this 3 value are:
innodb_buffer_pool_size = 15690M
max_heap_table_size = 8G
tmp_table_size = 8G

This can cause some issue if a member of the cluster goes down.
So is it just a recommendation, or there any enforcement on Cacti about that ?

I attempted to use Galera some years ago. It's great, but if you plan to add a bunch of plugins that end up with reams of table data, you will have to be careful when you perform tasks such as optimization as it will lock the whole database. So, you just have to be careful. In the end, due to the Cacti Plugins in use and the size of the database, I could not use Galera due to the number of records in the database (> 100Billion) and the size of the tables and the real-time nature of the system.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Can you tell me what architecture you have ?
Any kind of clustering or replication of your DB ?

I start to have some issue with proxysql, I install it on the cacti server to be able to have access to both member of my cluster, but it's look like it give me some performance issue.
And that's where the poller output table not empty error.

Since if I go directly to the DB cluster it's working for now.

Thanks for your input.
