Disable/Reanble NIC causes Index to change

Any time I disable and then renable a NIC, the Index of it changes causing a: CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[1] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result:. Until I click the little green circle next to the affected hosts SNMP - Interface Statistics. Currently, it's using Uptime Goes Backwards. For the data source, I'm using the Index Type: ifHwAddr.

Should I use a different method so I don't have to baby Cacti?

Verify All Fields. It slows things down a bit, but it is what MRTG uses.

Why not Index Count Changed ?

It is likely that your system either:

1) does not support that OID
2) the count does not change when you disable the interface.

Check for yourself by walking the if-mib before and after disabling. To understand how it calculates the Index count, review the XML file for a "Number of Indexes" (I thinks that's what it is anyway).
