Can only access Cacti through IP, not hostname

Post by ilikeike »

I just finished a brand new install of Cacti on an ubuntu server, when I try to access the site on another machine, I'm only able to access it by typing in http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/cacti (the server's IP). Using the address in Configuration -> Settings-> Mail/Reporting/DNS -> Server base URL (server hostname) does not work. I am thinking this might be a DNS issue, but I have no idea how to resolve. I already tried flushing the DNS tables of the local device and the server. Any suggestions would be great! Sorry, I am a bit of a noob when it comes to networking and Cacti.

Did you setup a DNS entry for it? Thats not part of cacti and you have to do it yourself.
