I am working for a company which uses Cacti as one of its main monitoring tools and we currently have 2500 graphs monitored.
Since 2,3 months ago we noticed issue with newly created devices/graphs. Indeed we cannot see the data, we only get an empty graph, but when we hit the "realtime" button we can see information which show we are not in front of a network issue.
We actually think we have so many graph to update that our pooler cannot follow anymore as this log suggest it. Our pooler is set at 5 mn interval which is the highest value in Cacti Option.
"09/12/2021 14:05:03 - CMDPHP WARNING: cmd.php poller over ran its polling intervale and therefore ending"
Do we have reach the limite of Cacti or is there any way to solve this ?
Cacti can handle way more than 2500 graphs, here is mine:
13/12/2021 08:38:13 - SYSTEM STATS: Time:12.2734 Method:spine Processes:5 Threads:12 Hosts:2358 HostsPerProcess:472 DataSources:16990 RRDsProcessed:0
But using spine and 5 process and 12 threads.
The key is the number of process and thread, to much is not good, too low either.
After that you have to optimze the DB a little bit, but not for 2500 graphs
