I am a Storage Admin and I have just resurrected a long neglected version of Cacti bringing the code current (1.2.19) on a Linux VM and am starting from the beginning. I am interested in pulling basic IO information from FC ports on Brocade SAN Directors and assorted switches. I tried to modify my graph template "title" to dynamically pick up and insert the port name, but ifDescr does not pull anything. I know there is a "difference" between Brocade SAN port names and Cisco SAN port names OIDs and while my Broadcom/Brocade SE will tell me "we do it the right way", only Cisco SAN switch port names show up in "ifDescr". Oddly the same thing occurs with other programs like Solarwinds (hmmmm).
While I can manually plug in port names as I create the graphs (ugh), I'd rather have them automatically populate with a "query". Has anyone had any success with this on Brocade DCX8510 SAN Directors running FOS? Thanks for your time.

Re: Brocade SAN port names
While stumbling through an snmpwalk/get of my Brocade DCX SAN Director I found that this OID contains the string that I'd like to dynamically add to my graph via a "query" of some sort.
Command:
snmpget -v2c MySANSwitchName -c MyCommunityString .1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.36.364
Returns:
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.36.364 = STRING: "MyHostName-1"
Can anyone point me to doc that shows how to build a query that I can imbed into my graph template ... assuming that Cacti supports that sort of thing? I have about a thousand of these to do and automation like this would be way better than manually typing in port names...
