Custom data source variables input/editing

Hello,

I have data input methods with custom input fields. In the associated data source template, In the data source template I have the custom variables set to set to override the values on data source creation. When I create a device, I am never asked to input the custom variable values. After device creation I go to the data source, the fields are present and empty as expected. When creating a new device, should I be asked to input the custom values as it creates the device and data source?

If the only way to populate the custom values is to go to the data source after creation, it would be a nice feature to have some way to enter it on device creation rather than having to go into the data source after creation.
