Syslog plugin not showing data

Post by philzv »

All,

I have the 1.22 syslog plugin running on cacti 0.8.8h. I truncated table syslog_incoming as that table had crashed; I can see new messages coming in into that table but nothing shows up in the cacti GUI. The syslog table and the syslog_hosts table (that I truncated as well) remain empty.

Any idea how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks!

I would generally suggest you be planning on your upgrade to 1.2. However, sometimes the syslog table get's too large, and there is a 'partitioned' install method that allows it to scale better. Start with your cacti.log file.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

I would run syslog_process.php manually in debug mode and see what it says.

Turned out there were some tables corrupt in the DB, likely after a crash.
A repair of the DB fixed the issue.

Thanks for the suggestions!
