ERROR:short read while reading rrd->stat_head

Hi,
After adding the device to cacti, for some cpu graphs i am receiving ERROR:short read while reading rrd->stat_head.
Could anyone help on this?
os:windows
rrd: 1.7.2
cacti:1.2.16

It's one of two things:

1) An rrdtool bug
2) A corrupted rrdfile

If you have other graphs working from that template, I would vote on 2.
