Hello all;
long time cacti user from back in the 0.8.x days
I have built a new cacti server and i elected NOT to import any data from my 0.8.x cacti (due to various issues I have observed)
I started this new cacti instance a few months ago on 1.2.10 - i have about 150+ devices in it so far. I updated to 1.2.13 two days ago. initial checks were good.
Today I needed to search something and discovered that the search does not work.
This is in:
Management/devices
I type my search query like IP address, part of the IP address, part of a known description, the entire description; they all yield no results.
I'm not sure how to proceed, and I am not very active on the forums so I don't know how to troubleshoot this.
Has anyone else observed this behaviour? I quick check in the issues list does not yield any results either.
Keep up the great work cacti team.

Cannot search for anything in device management on 1.2.13

Re: Cannot search for anything in device management on 1.2.13
well, i am noticing everything is not working with the search functions.
if i change devices: from default to 750 - no results
if i change Status: to anything - no results
Search functions elsewhere seem to work, such as in 'discovery' - but i haven't tried everywhere
maybe i messed something up in the upgrade. I did a copy of 1.2.13 overwrite onto the 1.2.10 (minus RRD folder) - then followed the http instructions
#UPDATE: Found this bug issue https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/issues/3714 which i tried (changing location to NULL) and fixed the missing host which I also observed going on...NOT HAVING search issues anymore!!! WHAAT?? I did use a NEW location for the host I just created. Maybe thats the issue?
#UPDATE: Eventually I was not able to search anymore. I thought a few things that it could be but ultimately I decided that I have spent too much time on it (pressing issues) - so I cleared all locations of all my devices to NULL via phpMyAdmin update. i think the bug is that if you are using location field for cacti versions > 1.2.10 that you may have issues.

In consoles under management devices.. there were 290 devices but it shows only 150+++ you can see under sites it's still there but not shown
regular expression search on devices is not working....
some of mine that are hidden/not shown are snmpv3, not sure if that the case for yours.

Tom

The host location did the trick, need to remove any location entered.
P.S. Not Device Site Association
regular expression still not working
