[Turck MMCache] Can not create shared memory area

Post by Brashquido »

Hi All

I'm used the Windows EasyPHP installer to create my PHP environment on my Windows 2003/IIS 6 Server, and it has been working well serving php files for my website for a good 6 months.

However, I've been trying to get Cacti 0.8.6c running and whenever I try and execute cactid.exe, or execute php.exe I get these errors;
CACTID: Using cactid config file [cactid.conf]
CACTID: Windows Environment, root permissions not required for ICMP Ping

I followed the Cacti and cactid.exe intall instructions, and just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what might be causing this. Thanks.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the reply :)

I had already looked at that thread, and although I do believe this problem is related to php4ts.dll, the solution in that thread you link to me is not going to help as I only have onw copy anyway.

What I think the problem is, is that IIS is being a bitch and won't share access to php4ts.dll. If you stop IIS and then run your polller.php or cactid it works perfectly. However as soon as you start up IIS again and acces even one .php file, then the '[Turck MMCache] Can not create shared memory area' erros start happening agin. I'm going to see if I can nut this out today as I find plenty of people asking this question, but few have any kind of answer, and none so far that have solved it properly.

OK, that was much easier than I thought :)

I found out why it is happening, but still to find out how to get around it without having to make performance sacrifices. I'll post back when I know more.
